Become a volunteer at RDB
Volunteers are essential in every area of Riding for the Disabled Barlavento.
People support RDB in many different ways – as sidewalkers, leaders, fund raisers, tea makers, poo pickers (yes we get down & dirty too!!) and we always need more. Whatever skills you can bring, giving your time to RDB will mean that more disabled people can enjoy the therapy and fun of horses.
Volunteering with RDB should be rewarding and fulfilling – and we want you to benefit from your time with us. We train all our volunteers so it’s not just our participants who get the chance to learn.
We welcome volunteers of 16 and over, there is no upper age limit and we need a wide range of skills – not just with horses. RDB is a diverse organisation and we are at our best when we bring together people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.
We’re looking forward to welcoming you to the RDB family.
Please note: With the current covid situation we are not at present taking on any new volunteers, however, please do submit the form if you are interested and we will keep your name on file for when things return to normal!
"Seeing the progress that the riders make as their core strength improves is just so rewarding. Within a few sessions we can see the difference in posture and for those that can, in walking. It is really heartwarming to know you are giving these riders an opportunity to feel free, and not bound by a wheelchair or by their mental ability."
